My philosophy is:
"If I treat you right, even though you don't take advantage of all my services, I want you to feel comfortable contacting me in the future, or referring others to me."

I also believe knowledge is empowering. I was a member of an investment club called Blue Chip Investment Club in Charlotte, NC, from 1994-2004. We followed the guidelines of the National Association of Investment Corp. (NAIC) that was formed in 1951 by returning World War II veterans settled in the Detroit, Michigan, area. They didn’t have enough money to invest in the stock market individually, so they drew up a contract and began buying stock as a legal entity. Their buying power became great!Ruth Ann Hall

I’m still a member, at large, of the Greater Piedmont Chapter of Better Investing (as it is called now), Nationally, investment clubs today hold a total of more than $175 billion worth of equities in their portfolios – rivaling the largest mutual funds. Have you ever heard of the book The Beardstown Ladies? That little town of Beardstown, IL, (approximately 2000 people) is less than an hour from my childhood home. That small group of women…teachers, nurses, farmer’s wives, bank tellers and retirees wrote a best-seller about their wealth building adventure with their Better Investing club.

I learned a lot about accumulating assets…it is actually about POWER. Not the greedy, ostentatious kind; rather the freedom from money worries that bring tension to so many families’ lives today.

You know why I’m sharing this little story? As a home-based business advisor, I still use the same concept I learned from Better Investing. I talk with people every day that want to earn income from home, and despite the fact they may or may not (oh, yes, that dread credit card) have the money for start-up, they cannot maintain the necessary on-going advertising/marketing budget that grows the business. Then they fail. I routinely suggest they talk with their “warm market” (family and friends) to see if enough interest can be generated to form an LLC, and begin a home-based business together. They learn and earn together, just like Better Investing teaches, and it’s legal!

Here's my "get to know me spot":

I was raised on a farm in west central Illinois. I didn’t think of us as poor…well, there was very little money, but we always had great food on the table from our farming and gardening efforts. I remember one of my favorite Christmas gifts was a huge box of oranges. They don’t grow in Illinois!

But, I was really born to be a city gal, and I call Chicago home where ever I am. I moved there as a young adult and achieved a degree in dental hygiene. I enjoyed that work very much for over 25 years. I have two sons and a daughter, and three energetic grandsons – plus a daughter-in-law that corrals them. My husband of over 25 years now, allowed me to enjoy his two children, and now three grandchildren as well.

I divide time between my home offices in Chicago and Charlotte, NC, where my husband practices dermatology.

Many talented and caring marketers have helped me on my journey, and I’ve adopted this as my signature line as a reminder of them, and what I wish to pass on to others.
